"Having Freestyle 2 is a game changer. I love the system, it's discreet and easy to use and is perfect for anyone who is dealing with insulin sensitivity and lows who is also active. It's extremely accurate, I love sharing my numbers with my husband who can check on me even while I am out teaching a yoga class. I also love how easy it is to share what's happening with my healthcare team to get their feedback.

Rachel, NSW

"Since using FreeStyle Libre 2 my glucose management has been so much better. With the graph, I had the evidence and so split breakfast into two small meals rather than one large meal and so removed the high BGL spikes. My wife has also not had to get up to me and feed me glucose at night since commencing using the Freestyle Libre 2!"

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM)?

A Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM), such as FreeStyle Libre 2, is a device that attaches to a person's body and takes continuous readings of the wearer's glucose levels. This information can then be viewed by the user via a smartphone app such as FreeStyle LibreLink,Ø or a reader such as the FreeStyle Libre 2 reader. CGMs replace the need for finger pricking to test blood clucose levels,5* and give a full picture of glucose level patterns over a period of time, rather than a measurement at a single point in time.

How does a Continuous Glucose Monitor work?

The FreeStyle Libre 2 operates by inserting a small filament, into the wearers skin using a simple applicator. FreeStyle Libre 2 then takes a glucose reading every minute from the wearer's interstitial fluid (ISF). This data is then transmitted directly to a smartphone app, FreeStyle LibreLink,Ø or scanned to the FreeStyle Libre 2 reader, allowing the wearer to conveniently monitor their glucose levels.

Who can use a Continuous Glucose Monitor?

The FreeStyle Libre 2 system in Australia is a real-time, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device indicated for measuring interstitial fluid glucose levels in people (age 4 and older) with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. The reader and sensor are designed to replace blood glucose testing in the self-management of diabetes, and to support manual dosing of insulin.

The indication for children (age 4 - 17) is limited to those who are supervised by a caregiver who is at least 18 years of age. The caregiver is responsible for managing or assisting the child to manage the reader and sensor and for interpreting or assisting the child to interpret sensor glucose readings.

The System is also intended to autonomously communicate with digitally connected devices. The System can be used alone or in conjunction with these digitally connected devices only where the user manually controls actions for therapy decisions.
